Mastering Primary PE Summit - 22 Nov, 2025
PE Solutions was established in 2023, by the former Head of PE at The Alice Smith School, Gemma Craker.
Gemma possesses extensive teaching and leading experience of over 15 years in the UK, Middle East, and SouthEast Asia, teaching students from 3-18 years.
Gemma shares; "I still remember my first Primary PE lesson at Sherborne Qatar back in 2011, where I asked a class of 3-4 year olds to stand on the red line! Oh yikes, how naive was I? I got questions like; 'What is a line? What is red? Or I need a wee, I don't want to!'
What had I let myself in for; of course, during my interview, I said I would be fine teaching younger students, but the reality was, I had no idea what I was doing, and there was little support outside of my department, who obviously shared everything that they had also learned on the job!"
This would be the start of something bigger, that took years to manifest and this is why Gemma is the right choice for your development.
Embarking on a Journey of Passion and Purpose
PE Solutions emerged from extensive conversations and discussions with colleagues and friends who shared a common belief: that every PE teacher has the potential to reach top-tier performance given sufficient time, structure, and resources.
Gemma firmly acknowledges the inherent transience of international PE departments and reinforces the necessity for carefully crafted foundations. These foundations, subject to regular revisiting and refinement, are crucial for maintaining stability, clarity, and ongoing effectiveness. Without careful planning, a department's established 'norms' may unintentionally lose their impact as they can become diluted through the transient nature of a team.
In the international school system, professional development opportunities can be limited due to the large scale of regions, numerous schools, and busy teaching timetables. While conferences and large-scale training is available, PE Solutions stands out by offering bespoke, tailored training tailored to the unique challenges of each department. Unlike generic conferences where takeaways may be minimal, PE Solutions strives to provide actionable tasks for empowering excellence. Instead of one person attending and relaying information, everyone participates, ensuring that each voice is heard and valued.
Gemma's wealth of experience in successfully creating and implementing structured foundations, combined with her expertise in unifying multicultural and multi-experience teams, can be applied universally. Whether for Primary, Secondary, or Whole School departments, her knowledge aims to elevate team performance and effectiveness.
When it comes to curriculum design, Gemma specialises in the Primary PE domain, an area often lacking specific training for teachers. Many educators rely on on-the-job learning (which can be at either end of the scale), and regrettably, some may inadvertently dilute Secondary PE practices for younger students. I hold my hands up to my oversight in this regard, until I recognised the transformative impact of a well-structured, bespoke Primary PE curriculum. This is something that Gemma works on with your department after your consultation to ensure your curriculum is created with your team and students in mind at all times.
